President’s Message

Mabuhay!

It is with a deep sense of responsibility that I assume the role of President of the Association of Government Internal Auditors for CY 2026–2027. I am grateful for the trust and confidence bestowed upon me by the Members of the Board.

As we move forward, the role of internal auditors in the public sector continues to evolve. Increasing complexity in governance, digital transformation, evolving risks, and heightened demands for transparency and accountability demand that we remain vigilant, competent, and forward-thinking. Our Association plays a critical role in ensuring that government internal auditors are well-equipped to provide independent assurance, add value, and contribute meaningfully to good governance, risk management, and internal control.

Atty. MARIA TERESA C. ALVAREZ
President

For the 2026–2027 term, our focus will be anchored on professional excellence, capacity building, innovation, and collaboration. We will strengthen continuing professional development programs, promote adherence to standards and ethical principles, encourage the responsible use of technology, analytics, and modern audit approaches. Equally important, we will foster a culture of knowledge-sharing and mentorship to support both seasoned and emerging auditors as well as newly established internal audit units.

We will also work to enhance engagement among our members and strengthen partnerships with oversight bodies, professional organizations, and stakeholders in the public sector. Through unity and active participation, we can further raise the profile of government internal auditing as a vital pillar of transparency, integrity, and public trust.

I call on every member to be part of this vision. Let us challenge conventions, lead with courage, and uphold the highest standards of our profession. Together, we can transform challenges into opportunities and ensure that government internal auditing remains a cornerstone of public trust and good governance.

Maraming salamat, and I look forward to working with all of you in the coming years.
